MarkdownEasy (MDE) Privacy Policy

MarkdownEasy (MDE) is a Markdown editor made by kubuzz, llc. This policy covers the MarkdownEasy (MDE) apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and the Mac edition downloaded from kubuzz.us. For our website in general, see the kubuzz privacy policy.
The apps from the App Store
We collect nothing. These apps have no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting, and they do not send your notes or any information about you to us or to anyone else.
If you subscribe in the app, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We do not receive your payment details or your Apple ID; Apple's privacy policy applies to the purchase.
Your notes
Your notes are ordinary text files that stay where you put them: on your device, or in a folder or cloud service you choose through the system's file picker. The app reads and writes only files and folders you pick, plus its own Welcome note. If you store notes with a cloud service, that service's own privacy policy applies to them. We never receive your notes.
Network use
The apps use the network for one thing: loading an image when a note contains a link to an image on the web. That request goes directly from your device to the site that hosts the image, so that site can see your device's network address, as it would for any web request. We receive nothing.
Links you open from a note open in your browser; they are not loaded inside the app.
The Mac edition from kubuzz.us
The Mac edition sold on our website has a free 30-day trial that runs entirely on your Mac: it needs no account or key and sends nothing to us. Buying a license involves our website:
- Account. You sign in with your email address. We keep that address and your purchase status, so we can tell the app what you are entitled to.
- Payment. Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe; we do not see or store them. We receive the status of your order.
- Activation. When you activate the app on a Mac, it sends the activation and an identifier for that device to our server, which replies with your entitlement. We keep the device identifier so we can recognise the devices you have activated.
Your notes are never part of any of this. Activation checks do not include note contents, file names or folder names.
Children
The apps are not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
